AUSA Well Represented on Wash100 Contracting List

The 2019 Wash100 list of the top leaders in government contracting includes three current and three former members of the Association of the U.S. Army’s Council of Trustees and last year’s winner of AUSA’s award for distinguished service on the industrial committee.

This is the sixth consecutive year for the Wash100 awards to private and public leaders. The 100 people were selected for the honor by Executive Mosaic, a media and events company.

Deadline Nears for Civilian Hero Nominations

Nominations are due Dec. 30 for the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation’s 2019 Citizen Honors awards, a program in which military heroes identify courage and self-sacrifice in others.

Award winners will be announced on March 25, 2019, which is National Medal of Honor Day.

AUSA Annual Meeting Makes DC Top 100 Events List

The Association of the United States Army’s 2018 Annual Meeting and Exposition ranks as the third largest trade show and convention on a list of the Top 100 Events in Washington, D.C., in 2018.

AUSA is the only military association to be mentioned on Washington’s Top 100 list that covers galas, political events, parades and trade shows. The annual list is created by BizBash, a resource for event and meeting professionals.

The Association of the U.S. Army was recognized May 2 by the Arlington, Va., Chamber of Commerce as the 2018 Non-Profit Business of the Year.

“These awards are earned by businesses that deliver exceptional quality of service to their customers, are industry leaders or offer a unique approach to delivery of goods and services. Each business displays an interest in and concern for the Arlington community,” according to the Chamber.

An Association of the U.S. Army chapter president has been named Man of the Year in Pleasanton, Calif., by the local newspaper.

Retired Army major and Vietnam veteran Doug Miller is president of the MG William F. Dean Chapter in the Dublin and East Bay areas of California. As AUSA chapter president, he has organized monthly luncheons with guest speakers as a key part of the chapter activities and has focused on ways of making lives better for soldiers and their families at Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, known as Camp Parks, in Dublin.

Army’s Top Warriors Announced

Spc. Robert Miller has been named the Army’s 2016 Soldier of the Year, and Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Moeller is the 2016 Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) of the Year. The two winners of the Army’s Best Warrior Competition were announced Monday at the Association of the U.S. Army’s Annual Meeting and Exposition.

Miller is an explosive ordnance disposal specialist with the 8th Military Police Brigade at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Moeller serves as a cavalry scout with the 108th Training Command, U.S. Army Reserve at San Diego.
