03 August 2022 Virtual Chapter Meeting Notice

Our next Texas Capital Chapter Meeting will be a virtual meeting to be broadcast via  Zoom on Wednesday, August 3rd. Our guest speaker will be COL Carrie Perez, Commander, 36th Sustainment Brigade, 36th Infantry Division, Texas Army National Guard.  Her unit is currently deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in the CENTCOM Middle East area of operations.

COL Perez will present a briefing on the 36th Sustainment Brigade’s mission and operations in support of units in the CENTCOM Middle East AOR.

Texas Capital Area Chapter Celebrates US Army's 247th Birthday

The Texas Capital Area Chapter celebrated the 247th US Army Birthday during our general meeting on Tuesday, 14 June.  BG Monie Ulis was our guest speaker and assisted in the cake cutting ceremony.

Members from the Texas Capital Area Chapter attended a BBQ dinner and networking social event on Thursday, 9 June 2022 at 1800 to 2000 hours at the Army Applications Laboratory in Austin, Texas.

The event honored the Army Futures Command Best Warrior/NCO and Best Squad Competition participants.

Our Community Salutes Celebration

Members from the AUSA Texas Capital Area Chapter co-hosted the "Our Community Salutes Ceremony" with the Austin Chapter of Our Community Salutes to honor the greater Austin area high school seniors who have enlisted in the military forces of our Nation.   COL (R) Garry D. Patterson, MG (R) Halverson, COL (R) John Willis and Chaplain Bender assisted with the ceremony. 

Texas Capital Area Chapter Represented at Retirement Ceremony for MG Tracy Norris

COL (R) Garry D Patterson, Chapter President AUSA Texas Capital Area Chapter represented our Chapter at the retirement ceremony of MG Tracy Norris, Adjutant General of Texas.  

The event was well attended with more than 340 guests.  

Certificate of Appreciation presented to Pok-e-Jo's Smokehouse

COL (R) Garry D Patterson, Chapter President AUSA Texas Capital Area Chapter, presented a certificate of  appreciation to Mr. John Bohne, Catering Director for Pok-e-Jo's Smokehouse in Round Rock, Texas.  Pok-e-Jo's has provided excellent catering services to our chapter for several major social events including BBQ dinners in support of the Army Futures Command.  

Texas Capital Area Chapter Represented at III Corps People First Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Fort Hood

Mr. David Berlad represented the chapter at the III Armored Corps People First Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 13 May 2022 at Fort Hood. 
 
U.K. Major General Michael Keating, III Armored Corps deputy commanding general – support was the keynote speaker and spoke about the value and support this new center will bring to the soldiers of Fort Hood.  It is their way of showing that soldiers come first. The center is a “leadership laboratory to reinforce elements of a healthy organizational culture".

Texas Capital Area Chapter of AUSA co-sponsored the Texas National Guard Best Warrior Competition in Bastrop, TX and a luncheon at the Southside BBQ for the soldiers/airmen.

The Texas Capital Area Chapter held a General Membership Meeting at Camp Mabry at 1200 hrs on 4 May 2022.

COL (Ret) Garry D. Patterson, Chapter President called the meeting to order. The Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and Bylaws Committee Report/Vote were conducted, followed by the guest speakers' remarks.
