Tech Ten presentations a hit at aviation; expanded at Winter Symposium

A new program, developed last year by the Association of the United States Army’s Institute of Land Warfare, that affords industry members with the opportunity to make brief presentations at AUSA symposia, was a "dynamic and exciting addition to the program" at the recent Army Aviation Symposium and Exposition held in early January at National Harbor, Md.According to AUSA officials, four Tech Ten presentations were part of the two-day symposium titled "Future of Army Aviation," a professional development forum featuring presentations and panel discussions by military and industry leaders.Lt. Gen. Guy Swan, USA, Ret., AUSA’s vice president for education who oversees the programs and activities of the Institute of Land Warfare, said, "The addition of Tech Tens to our overall symposium program has proven to be a special and informative ingredient that puts the spotlight on industry research and development of equipment, arms and, most importantly, technology that is being developed by our industry partners for our soldiers of today and tomorrow."Adding, "This program, that was introduced by my predecessor, Lieutenant General Ted Stroup, fills an important gap in our already successful symposia program, and we will continue asking industry support for more Tech Ten participation in our future events."The Tech Ten presentations at the aviation symposium included:Michael Kraft, senior vice president and general manager, Lycoming, who discussed efficient small scale propulsion.Avetis Ioannisyan, program manager, rotary wing, ITT Exelis, who talked about the key platforms and technologies leading to network EW (electronic warfare) capability.Jennifer Jensen, vice president of business development, Sierra Nevada Corp., who covered innovative and agile technology solutions such as telemedicine.Bob Kenneally, director, Army programs, ITC aerospace, who dealt with United Technology Corporation’s aerospace systems.Swan also said that Tech Ten presentations will be on the agenda at the Association’s Winter Symposium and Exposition, Feb. 20 to 22, at the Broward Convention Center, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.The symposium is titled "America’s Next First Battle: Manning, Training, Equipping."Scheduled Tech Ten presentations at this symposium include:John Wiliszowski Jr., client executive, U.S. Army Account, IBM – "Open Architected App Store through a Common Operation Platform."Paul George, development leader, Product Development Solutions, Batelle – "Fuel-Flexible Fuel Cell Power Generation."Bill Dillard, director of emerging technology, Archangel Systems – "Technology Implications of GPS-Denied Operations."Randy L.
