Council nominates members; Bylaws’ changes approved
Nominations to serve on the Association of the United States Army’s Council of Trustees were submitted by the national nominating committee to the council for consideration at its meeting at AUSA headquarters in late January.Three serving council members, Rudy deLeon, John D. Harris II, and David K. Heebner, were nominated to serve as trustees for a three-year term each.Rick Edwards was nominated and elected to complete the unexpired term of Marillyn Hewson, whose term expires on June 30, 2015.In addition, Sgt. Maj. of the Army Jack L. Tilley, USA, Ret., vice chairman for noncommissioned officer and soldier programs; Lt. Gen. David H. Ohle, USA, Ret., vice chairman for retiree and veteran affairs; Lt. Gen. Roger C. Schultz, USA, Ret., vice chairman for National Guard and reserve affairs; and George T. Singley III, vice chairman for civilian affairs, were each nominated to serve two-year terms to expire in 2015.If members wish to make an additional nomination to the council, the Association’s bylaws require that national headquarters receives a petition for candidacy, supported by at least 250 signatures of bona fide members, with at least 40 signatures from each of four chapters.The nominations must be received at national headquarters by March 31, 2013.Elections will be held at the April Council of Trustees meeting.Notice to General MembershipAt the end of December 2012, voting by the general membership to ratify the November 2012 revision to the AUSA Bylaws submitted by the Standing Bylaws Committee closed.The amendments were unanimously approved by the membership and the results were reported at the January 2013 AUSA Council of Trustees meeting.
