The Texas Capital Area Chapter leadership attended the retirement ceremony for LTG Dennis "Scott" McKean, Deputy Commanding General and Director, Future and Concept Center of Army Futures Command on 19 January 2024.

LTG McKean had a long and distinguished Army career spanning more than thirty-two years. During his career he also served as the Chief of Staff for United States Central Command, Commanding General of 2d Infantry Division, Commander of the 4th Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, 1st 66th Armored Regiment, and Operations Officer of the XVIII Airborne Corps.

LTG McKean was awarded numerous honors during his distinguished career: Army Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Bronze Star with three oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters and numerous other awards. LTG McKean was also awarded the following badges: Combat Action Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Ranger Tab, Sapper Tab, and 10 overseas service bars.

It was an honor for the Texas Capital Area Chapter to work with LTG McKean during his time at Army Futures Command. He provided several presentations to our members during our chapter meetings and enjoyed watching the Army vs Navy watch parties sponsored by our chapter with the West Point Society of Central Texas.
