11 November 2023 MG (R) Halverson Attends Military Appreciation Weekend at Colorado State U
Ft. Collins, Colorado
Immediate Past Chapter President MG (Ret) Bob Halverson attended the Military Appreciation Weekend and Football Game at Colorado State University on 11 November 2023. He represented AUSA and our Texas Capital Area Chapter in support of the Senior ROTC program at Colorado State University vs San Diego State University football game.
General Halverson spoke to the Army Senior ROTC Cadets about their program and how well it was preparing them for the leadership roles they will be assigned to in the US Army. General Halverson challenged the cadets to continue their hard work and dedication to service to our Nation through their focus on the Seven Army Values and development of their leadership skills. He was most impressed with the talent and professionalism of these ROTC cadets.
General Halverson also attended a senior leadership reception where he had the opportunity to speak to leaders of the Colorado State University and thank them for the support of the Military Appreciation Weekend. Due to the focus and direction of the senior leaders of the university, the Military Appreciation Weekend was a great success. It should be noted that approximately 200 Colorado State University ROTC Alumni and former cadets attended the reception and veterans events.
This year the University President, Dr. Amy Parsons, was a major supporter of this event and attended the ROTC tailgate party event. General Halverson was honored by a salute battery on campus. The ROTC salute battery commander and Army Professor of Military Science, LTC Matt Tillman presented General Halverson with the steel casing from one of the cannon rounds fired from the ceremonial cannon named “Comatose”. The Army Professor of Military Science LTC Matt Tillman was also awarded the Professor of Military Science (PMS) of the Year award. LTC Tillman was selected as the best PMS out of 274 ROTC Programs in the United States. General Halverson was also a part of this award ceremony.
Our chapter continues to support Veteran Activities and award ceremonies in our area and also across the country to promote the objectives of Connect, Inform, and Communicate the Army story.
