While he is mostly known as a celebrity chef and television host, Irvine got his start in the British Navy when he was just 15. He also runs 11 businesses employing more than 5,000 people, and he spends a lot of time meeting with—and feeding—troops around the world.

Appearing at a Feb. 27 Lexington Institute forum on the Army’s rapid equipping needs, Ham said those gaps include “worrisome shortfalls” in air and missile defense, long-range fires, and the lethality and survivability of Brigade Combat Teams.
