Maj. Gen. Robert H. Scales, U.S. Army Retired

Maj. Gen. Robert H. Scales, USA Ret., Ph.D, retired after more than 30 years in the Army. He commanded two units in Vietnam and later served in command and staff positions in the U.S., Germany and Korea before ending his military career as commandant of the U.S. Army War College. After retiring, he was named president and CEO of Walden University, Baltimore. Subsequently he founded Colgen LLP, a consultancy for senior military and civilian leaders in future warfare and national security strategy. Besides Certain Victory, he is the author of several other books, including Firepower in Limited War and Yellow Smoke: the Future of Land Warfare for America’s Military. Scales graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., in 1966 and earned a Ph.D. in history from Duke University, Durham, N.C..
