E-9 Breakfast Meeting
CSM Jeff Stitzel conducted the monthly E9 Breakfast at the Vienna Inn. The Breakfast was held at the Vienna Inn (120 Maple Ave. Vienna, VA 22180) on Saturday January 7th at 9:00 a.m. Large outside area to accommodate our group. Approximately, 30 senior NCO's participated in this event across the services. This is a monthly event where the senior NCOs break bread, reconnecting with friends, network and discuss issues affecting Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. Thanks to the George Washington Chapter AUSA for the coffee.

This is a monthly event where the senior NCOs break bread, reconnecting with friends, network and discuss issues affecting Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines. This event is also a membership event where the benefits of being an AUSA member are discussed. Thanks to the George Washington Chapter AUSA for the coffee.

The GWC held its Quarterly Luncheon Series/Professional Development Forum/General Membership Meeting on 7 February 2023 at the Army Navy Country Club, Arlington VA. Approximately 140 persons attended which consisted of Industry Leaders, Community Partners, Howard University ROTC Cadets, George Mason ROTC Cadets, Soldiers and Color Guard from the 3d US Infantry Regiment, and members of The US Army Band provided the opening music medley. The two featured speakers,Mr Mark Kitz, PEO IEWS and Mr Leo Garciga, Director Intelligence, Community Information Management, ODCS G2 spoke to a number of issues focused on digital transformation, secure software development and data analytics as well as development, acquisition, fielding, and life cycle support of the Army's portfolio of IEWS programs. The conversation was lively with excellent questions following the presentations.
PenFed Foundation Grant to JBM-HH DFMWR
The PenFed Foundation Military Heroes Program to support food insecurity programs at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall. The Chapter was honored to have CSM(Ret.) David Clark, Director of Outreach and Military Heroes Program, Katie Watson, Program Manager, Military Heroes Program, who presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to COL(Ret.) Kelly Nebel, Director of Family and MWR (DFMWR) for the food insecurity program.
Certificate of Appreciation
COL(Ret.) and 2nd Region President, Glenn Yarborough presented COL(Ret.) Mollie Pearson, Pearson Consulting LLC with a Certificate of Appreciation for her service to AUSA, Soldiers and Families signed by GEN (Ret.) Carter Ham, Past President, AUSA National.
10-11 February
BEYA STEM Conference and Job Fair
LTG(R) Leslie Smith (AUSA VP for Education and Programs) spoke at the Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference at the Gaylord National Harbor Conference Center. Over 1,500-2000 JROTC, SROTC, High School and College Students attended the two Conference. GWC and AUSA hosted a membership booth talking with the attendees about AUSA networking, scholarships and educational programs.

The George Washington Chapter AUSA 2023 Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that we are accepting DIGITAL applications for this year’s scholarship program now through Friday, 12 May 2023 at C2101@gmail.com. The digital scholarship application consists of 4 elements: 1. a short letter to the chapter on why you are applying/deserving of a scholarship,2. Transcripts, 3. Letter of Recommendation and 4. Membership Information.

The GWC Educational Scholarship Tournament

Reston National Golf Course is certified as a Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International.
The GWC AUSA Golf Tournament is an annual event to support the Chapter's Soldier, Soldier Family, and Scholarship Programs.
The GWC continues its initiative to engage and support local high schools and undergraduates in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Business and Finance curriculums.
In 2022, the chapter awarded 32 scholarships amounting to over $50,000 to Soldiers, ROTC cadets and family members.
The support provided by our sponsors and community partners was instrumental in the success of this scholarship program.
The tournament will be an outstanding offsite marketing and networking opportunity associated with the 2023 AUSA Annual Meeting.

West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference
The George Washington Chapter AUSA participated and was a silver level sponsor providing a $1000 scholarship supporting the West Point Leadership and Ethics Conference held at George Mason University, Arlington Campus Van Metre Hall on 16 March 2023. Approximately, 200 high school junior scholars from surrounding Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland high schools attended, including cadets from the Coast Guard Academy, Air Force Academy, Naval Academy, West Point Military Academy serving as group advisors to the young students.

Met with CSM Octavia Williamson, DCARNG G3 CSM and 74th Troop Command CSM to deliver 4 Commissary Gift cards for the DCNG Best Warrior awards program. The Chapter will support the following:

Vietnam War Veterans Commemoration Day
GWC participated in an exhibit hosted by the JBM-HH Exchange with cake and coffee provided by the JBM-HH Commissary honoring our Vietnam Veterans and providing Vietnam Era pins to eligible recipients.
