Command Sgt. Maj. Robert C. Tierney, who nominated Moeller for the honor, said in his justification: "Bob Moeller’s life since high school has been one of public service. Spending 41 years in the military, he then shifted gears and devoted his life then and now to the continued support of active duty soldiers, their families and veterans."A veteran of the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Cold War eras, Moeller served as full-time federal technician with the National Guard for 33 years. He is the recipient of the AUSA First Region’s 2005 Arthur R. McMillan Award for his service to the Association, his region and chapter. He frequently testifies before the Connecticut General Assembly on issues that directly affect soldiers and their families. He is the founder of the Adopt-A-Squad program that supported units deployed to Bosnia.Norm Harkins, president of AUSA’s First Region, and his wife, Connie, attended the induction ceremony. The Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame was created by Gov. M. Jodi Rell by an executive order in 2005, and the first class included President George H.W. Bush. Its goal is to recognize the post-military achievements of outstanding veterans and to spotlight the "substantial contributions of veterans to communities across the state."Those selected for this recognition are veterans who have honorably served their country through military service and "who continue to serve and inspire their fellow man."The Hall of Fame is administered and sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Veterans’ Affairs and the Connecticut Military Department.
