Pflugerville, TX

On 20 April 2023, our chapter president, COL (Ret) Garry D. Patterson, attended the award ceremony for the Junior Army ROTC Program at John Connally High School in Pflugerville, TX. 

The keynote speaker was LTC (Ret) Joseph Kelley, Junior ROTC Program Director, for John Connally High School. Numerous awards were presented to the deserving cadets from this excellent Junior ROTC program. Other organizations such as the VFW, American Legion, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Purple Heart Association also made presentations to the cadets. It was an honor for our chapter president, COL (Ret) Garry D. Patterson, to present the AUSA Academic & Leadership Award to Junior Cadet Alexandra Gonzalez Guevara. Cadet Guevara 
received an AUSA certificate and medal set as well as a Texas Capital Area Chapter challenge coin and two year membership in Association of the US Army.

The event was well attended with family and friends of the cadets with approximately 275 guests in attendance. Approximately three dozen cadets were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the JROTC program. They all received certificates from the school which were presented by the John Connally High School, principal, Ms. Paula Gamble.
