The Texas Capital Area Chapter joined with Army Futures Command to begin the celebration of the US Army's 248th Birthday with a USA Birthday Golf Tournament held at the Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, Texas. Several members of our chapter and executive committee participated in this golf tournament to celebrate our Army. 

General James E. Rainey shared comments at a breakfast prior to the start of the tournament and presented award certificates to the top three finishing teams. Our chapter president, COL (Ret) Garry Patterson and COL (Ret) Christopher Doneski, VP for Industry Outreach, played in the tournament and enjoyed the fellowship and celebration in honor our Army on this early birthday event. 

There were 18 four person teams playing in the tournament. It was a very successful event and everyone had a great time. The AUSA Central Texas Chapter was represented and won the tournament with the top score. The tournament gave our chapter president, COL (Ret) Garry Patterson an opportunity to share time with MG (Ret) Ken Cox, the Central Texas Chapter President. Our Texas Capital Area Chapter plans to work with Army Futures Command next year to enhance the participation in the golf tournament. 

The event allowed the city of Austin to learn more about the US Army and the great things happening in our city.
