Chapter member and VP for Social Media, Nancy Berlad, attended an event sponsored by the Balcones Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution on January 18, 2023. 

More than 20 members of the chapter assembled canvas “Friendship Bags” for homeless Veterans.  Each bag contained items such as socks, blankets, water bottles, chips, cookies, personal toiletry items, snack crackers, can goods, juices, dried jerky sticks, disposable utensils, gloves, hand sanitizer and rain ponchos to name a few.  Separate bags were created for Lady Veterans which included lip balm, hairbrushes, lotion, nail polish, and more.

Over 200 bags were created which were later delivered to the Veterans Hospital in Temple, Texas. The hospital provides these to Veterans who are being discharged and have no place to go, and to Veterans who come into the hospital looking for assistance.
