Michael A. Vane
Major General Michael A. Vane is currently serving as Commanding General, U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Center and Fort Bliss. Prior to that assignment he served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Doctrine, Concepts and Strategy, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. In earlier assignments he served as Commanding General, 32d Army Air Missile Defense Command; Director of Integration, Office of the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans for Force Development; Commander, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade; Director, Combat Developments, U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery School; and in a wide range of other command, staff and joint positions. A 1975 graduate of the United States Military Academy, he earned a master’s degree in systems technology from the Naval Postgraduate School. He also attended the Signal Officer Basic Course, the Air Defense Artillery Advanced Course, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College.
