J.E. “Jack” Surash is acting deputy assistant secretary of the Army (Energy and Sustainability), the Pentagon. Previously, he was deputy assistant secretary for acquisition and project management in the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management. He has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering (energy management) from Texas A&M University.
