Command Sergeant Major Carabello is from North Andover, Massachusetts and enlisted in the United States Army in November 1985 serving for 32 years before retiring to York, Maine in June 2017. 

Command Sergeant Major Carabello served in ranger, airborne, light infantry and joint service units to include the 75th Ranger Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, 10th Mountain Division, the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, GA and the Joint Improvised Threat Defeat Agency in Washington, D.C.  Command Sergeant Major Carabello served two combat deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and four combat deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.  

Command Sergeant Major Carabello’s military education includes: all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System, the Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Course, Battle Staff, Jungle Operations, Emergency Medical Technician, Special Operations Training, the U.S. Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Course and the Command Sergeant Major Force Management, Legal and Keystone Courses.  He also completed the Ranger, Airborne, Pathfinder and Jumpmaster Schools.  His civilian education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and minor in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. 

Command Sergeant Major Carabello’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal,  Legion of Merit (oak leaf cluster), Bronze Star Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Purple Heart Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (silver leaf cluster), Valorous Unit Award (oak leaf cluster), National Defense Service Medal (with star), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (four stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (three stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service medals, NCO Ribbon (numeral three), NATO Medal (numeral three), Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Pathfinder Badge, British Canadian, El Salvadoran, Peruvian and Jordanian Parachutist Badges, and  the Master Parachutist Badge. 

Command Sergeant Major Carabello is currently employed by the United States Postal Service and actively serves on the Committee for Veterans Affairs for the Town of York, Maine.  Additionally, he is also the New England Region Commander for the United States Army Ranger Association and is an active Mentor for the Three Rangers Foundation supporting the Rangers of the 75th Ranger Regiment.  He is also a Distinguished Member of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment and has been inducted into the University of Massachusetts-Lowell Veterans Hall of Fame.
