Lt. Gen. Laura Richardson, commander of Army North, will be the guest speaker on the July 14 edition of the Association of the U.S. Army’s Thought Leaders webinar series.

Richardson took command of Army North in July 2019. The command at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston supports U.S. Northern Command to detect, deter and defeat threats to the homeland, support civil authorities and partner with the Canadian and Mexican militaries to protect the U.S. and its interests.

Most recently, Army North supported the military’s COVID-19 response by serving as Northern Command’s Joint Force Land Component Command.

The command supported 134 FEMA-approved mission assignments, deploying and integrating almost 9,000 service members from across DoD. The command also employed more than 3,100 medical personnel to help staff nine alternate care facilities and 24 civilian hospitals in nine states.

“I am tremendously proud of everyone who participated in the Department of Defense's COVID-19 response effort and helped flatten the curve of the pandemic,” Richardson said in a statement June 4 when the command concluded its JFLCC mission. “As we move forward, we remain focused on understanding and monitoring COVID-19 trends and leveraging lessons learned, ensuring we remain ready to respond at a moment's notice.”

The Thought Leaders livestream series is an extension of AUSA’s Thought Leaders podcast, temporarily taking the place of the General Bernard W. Rogers Strategic Issues Forum and the General Lyman L. Lemnitzer Lecture Series.

The series will focus on senior military leaders and contemporary military authors and seek to educate the public on critical issues affecting land forces and strategy.

There is no cost for watching the events, but registration is required.

Richardson will speak at 10 a.m. July 14. To register or for more information, click here.
