The George Washington Chapter AUSA 2023 Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that we are accepting DIGITAL applications for this year’s scholarship program now through Friday, 19 May 2023 at C2101@gmail.com.  The digital scholarship application consists of 4 elements: 1. a short letter to the chapter on why you are applying/deserving of a scholarship,2. Transcripts, 3. Letter of Recommendation and 4. Individual Membership Information.

 

During the period 2014-2022, the Chapter awarded almost $367,500.00 in scholarships to many truly gifted, talented, dedicated, deserving Chapter and family members.  Our top 4 named awards are

  • “Ed Dauksz Scholarship Award” named for our beloved former Chapter President and our favorite Marine
  • “Major General Harry Greene STEM Scholarship Award” in honor and loving memory of a great leader, patriot, educator who made the ultimate sacrifice
  • “Major General Carl F. McNair Jr. Scholarship Award” named for the Father of Modern Army Aviation and our long-standing Chapter Board member, former President, and stalwart GWC supporter for 40+ years. 
  • “PenFed Credit Union Business and Finance Scholarship Award” named after the PenFed Credit Union for their generosity in sponsoring the George Washington Chapter.

 

The scholarship program was established to provide recognition, inspiration, financial assistance and encouragement to our members and their families in keeping America’s Army Strong.  These awards are presented annually to outstanding members and family members enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs.

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

 

There are two (2) award categories:

Category 1 - Member Scholarship Eligibility:  

  • Open to all George Washington Chapter members (Enlisted, Officer and Civilian)
  • 2.5 GPA (4.0 Scale) or C+ average in high school
  • Application Packages must include:
    • Letter from applicant expressing why you are a deserving scholarship award candidate including any special family or other considerations
    • Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address
    • Official Transcript(s)
    • Letter of recommendation from supervisor, teacher or counselor
    • GWC AUSA Membership Number (copy of individual membership card desired if available)

Category 2 - Family Member Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Open to high school senior, high school or college graduate, or current college student, full or part time
  • 2.5 GPA (4.0 scale or C+ average in high school
  • Application Packages must include:
    • Letter from applicant expressing why you are a deserving scholarship award candidate including any special family or other considerations
    • Name, Address, Phone Number, Email Address
    • Official Transcript(s)
    • Letter of recommendation from teacher or counselor
    • GWC AUSA Membership Number (copy of individual membership card desired if available)

It is important to note that LATE, INCOMPLETE, or NON CURRENT CHAPTER MEMBER applications will not be considered.

All scholarship awardees will be invited to attend the late spring (early June) George Washington Chapter Luncheon at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington.
