Fairfax-Lee Chapter Holds Last Wednesday Meeting
The Fairfax Lee Chapter of AUSA held its monthly Last Wednesday on 31 January at the Springfield Hilton Houlihan's restaurant. Each month the Chapter hosts a social event for member to meet and discuss topics affecting the Army. This month saw a larger than normal turn out with over 40 people in attendance. Ken Britt, Chapter President, introduced the first guest speak, Ms. Shelia Hutchinson, Volunteer Coordinator for the Ft. Belvoir USO Warrior and Family Center. She discussed the many different opportunities the USO provides Soldiers, Wounded Warriors and Retirees. Since opening, the 25,000 Square feet Center serves as a place for Soldiers and Wounded Warriors to stop by and relax. Since January, the Center is also open to Veteran’s. The Center current has over 150 Volunteers but are always looking for more to help with the operations. Anyone interested in volunteering for at least two shifts a month should contact the USO, 571.267.2080 for more information.
Mrs. Pat Barron, Family Outreach Coordinator, AUSA National Headquarters also attended. She provided information on all the service AUSA provides to Family members such as resume reviews and job searches. Her focus this year is to get more spouses and Family members to join AUSA to take advantage of the many opportunities of membership.
The next Last Wednesday will be 28 February, 5:00-7:00 pm at the Springfield Hilton Houlihan's restaurant. As always there will be hors devours provided by the chapter.
