Council of Trustees convenes for election, appointments

The Association of the Unites States Army’s Council of Trustees elected one new member and re-elected four members to serve three-year terms beginning July 1 to the Association’s council – AUSA’s governing body.The council met May 7 at the Association’s national headquarters in Arlington, Va.Lawrence B. Prior III, executive vice president of service sectors, BAE Systems, Inc., was elected to serve his first term as an Association trustee.Elected to serve as trustees for additional three-year terms were Gen. Carl E. Vuono, USA, Ret.; Maj. Gen. Patricia P. Hickerson, USA, Ret.; Dennis A. Muilenburg; and Marillyn Hewson.Thomas W. Rabaut was re-elected to serve an additional term as deputy chairman, and Nicholas D. Chabraja was re-elected to serve as chairman for another year.The council appointed nine new members and re-appointed 12 current members to serve three-year terms beginning July 1 on the Association’s Advisory Board of Directors.The newly appointed members were: Maj. Gen. William E. Barron, USA, Ret., Fort Knox Chapter; Maj. Gen. Leo J. Baxter, USA, Ret., Thunderbird Chapter; Col. William J. Beiswenger, FlARNG, Suncoast Chapter; Thomas Edwards, Central Virginia Chapter; John E. Hodges, Fairfax – Lee Chapter; Virginia E. Kinakin, Captain Meriwether Lewis Chapter; Col. Donald D. Loftis, USA, Ret., Maj. Gen. John S. Lekson Chapter; Maj. Gen. Curtis A. Loop, USA, Ret., Columbia River Chapter; and Richard E. Turner, Redstone – Huntsville Chapter.Re-appointed to the Advisory Board were: Faye E. Earley, Robert E. Lee Chapter; Sgt. Maj. Todd B. Hunter, USA, Ret., George Washington Chapter; Col. Alan D. Kruse, USA, Ret., Rock Island Arsenal Chapter; Command Sgt. Maj. William O. Morgan, USA, Ret., GA Omar N. Bradley Chapter; Brig. Gen. Harold W. Nelson, USA, Ret., Carlisle Barracks – Cumberland Valley Chapter; and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry D. Pence, USA, Ret., George Washington Chapter.Command Sgt. Maj. William R. Pewther, USA, Ret., Maj. Samuel Woodfill – Cincinatti Chapter; Sgt. Maj. of the Army Kenneth O. Preston, USA, Ret., At Large; Col. Danelle L. Scotka, USAR, Ret., Fairfax – Lee Chapter; Lt. Col. Gloria J. Sherman, USA, Ret., Topeka Chapter; Command Sgt. Maj. Tommy A. Williams, USA, Ret., First Militia Chapter; and Dick Winter, Virginia Peninsula – Gen. Douglas MacArthur Chapter, were also re-appointed.Advisory board members serve on one of the Association’s standing committees to include: Army civilians; awards; chapter operations; finance and audit; NCO and soldier programs; reserve components; retiree and veteran affairs; and standing bylaws.A listing of the committees and their members is published periodically in ARMY Magazine.
