Veterans’ Hiring Event at AUSA Global Force Symposium and Exposition

The Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) is again partnering with The American Freedom Foundation, in conjunction with Still Serving Veterans, to host the Warriors To The Workforce Hiring Event during the 2016 AUSA Global Force Symposium and Exposition -- “Building Readiness for Today and Tomorrow” -- at the Von Braun Center, Huntsville, Ala., March 15--17.The one-day hiring event, on Wednesday, March 16, at the Von Braun Center’s North Hall, is part of the American Freedom Foundation’s nationwide initiative to help veterans find jobs. Attendance at the Warriors To The Workforce Hiring Event is free and open to veterans, military service members and spouses.This year’s hiring event this will again bring together major companies from throughout the country to profile their services and provide employment opportunities for veterans.Veterans attending the Global Force Symposium and Exposition have the opportunity to talk with employers, submit qualifications and participate in on-the-spot job interviews.Warriors To The Workforce is unique in that the American Freedom Foundation will analyze resumes and match qualified veterans, transitioning military service members and spouses with employers.In addition to the hiring event, Warriors To The Workforce will include workshops for veterans providing resources and information on subjects such as mental readiness, confidence building, networking and presentation skills, resume writing, interviewing techniques, job searching, career planning through goal setting, and translating military skills and training into civilian life and corporate experiences, among others. Scheduled workshops will include:

  • Mayor Troy Trulock, City of Madison, Ala., “Transitioning from One Uniform to the Next”
  • Mark Escherich, Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
  • Dr. Lille Cannon, director, Columbia Southern Education Group – Panel Discussion, “Hire, Train, Employ”
  • Lt. Col. Jerry Wood, southeast regional director, Army “Soldier for Life” program
  • Jennifer Veal and Sonya Tolliver, human research team, Intuitive Research and Technology Corp., “Transition Tips, Resume Writing and Interviewing (mostly)”
