COL Shane Upton, the first Director for the Army Futures Command Contested Logistics (CL) Cross-Functional Team (CFT), provided an overview of the CFT’s mission at the quarterly AUSA - Redstone-Huntsville Chapter Community Partner breakfast held at the Rocket City Trash Pandas stadium, Toyota Field on February 20th.  The Contested Logistics (CL) Cross-Functional Team (CFT) was formed in 2023 to address the need to sustain forces and equipment quickly on future battlefields, including those dispersed across multiple domains. With an audience of nearly 100 local business leaders, COL Upton discussed how the CFT has started examining the design for a logistics tail in a contested environment; experimenting with hybrid power, autonomous aircraft, watercraft and vehicles; and developing, in real time, systems that help provide more precise estimates of sustainment needs on a modern battlefield. We appreciated hearing about the developing solutions to the military’s most difficult sustainment issues.
