The ASUA Texas Capital Area Chapter hosted a BBQ social event at the Army Application Laboratory in the Omni Hotel in Austin, Texas.  The event was held in coordination with the Army Futures Command Nominative CSM/SGM Summit. More than forty sergeants major from across the country under the command of Army Futures Command were our guests for this social event.  Those attending were treated to Texas BBQ and a great social environment.   Attending from our chapter were ten members of the Executive Committee and seven community partner representatives 
from local industry.  
 
The event was considered a highlight of the AFC CSM/SGM conference.  CSM Brian Hester, command sergeant major Army Futures Command, provided remarks as well as our chapter president, COL (Ret) Garry Patterson.   LTG Ross Coffman, Deputy Commanding General (DCG) of Army Futures Command also attended the social and provided comments. Of special note our chapter leadership was about to meet the next 
Sergeant Major of the Army (SMA) CSM Michael Weimer.   CSM Weimer currently serves as the command sergeant major at the US Army Special Operations Command and will assume his new duties as the Sergeant Major of the Army in August 2023.
