19 June 2024 Chapter President Meets with Field of Honor Chairman

Dr Jeanne Cox and Michael Cox

Austin, Texas

Chapter president, COL (Ret) Garry Patterson, met with Dr. Jeanne Cox, Chair of the 2024 Field of Honor program. The Field of Honor program is a special event to honor veterans with the posting of United States of America flags in their honor during the week of Veterans Day.

This event is lead through the leadership of the Georgetown Rotary Club. The Field of Honor is a dramatic and emotional display of over 1,500 full size, 3′ x 5′ United States of America flags. This will be the 8th year that the Rotary Club of Georgetown Foundation Field of Honor has proudly presented the Field of Honor flags to the community. Each flag is placed at the San Gabriel Park in a field of honor to recognize and honor our military veterans and first responders.

The flags are purchased and dedication in honor these veterans by family and friends. The funds raised through the purchase of the flags are used to support scholarships for local students in the community. An essential element of the Field of Honor program is to promote American Patriotism to honor veterans and our great Nation.

The purpose of the initial planning meeting with Dr. Jeanne Cox was to establish communications and develop a plan in which the Texas Capital Area Chapter of AUSA can become an affiliate member organization for this amazing mission of honoring our veterans. Additional planning sessions are scheduled for July and August to ensure the continued success of this outstanding program of the "Field of Honor"
