Texas Capital Area Chapter will hold a General Membership Meeting and celebration of the National Guard's Birthday at Camp Mabry, Building 8 at 1200 hours.

December 13, 2023 marks the 387th Birthday of what is now the United States National Guard. “On this date in 1636, the first militia regiments in North America were organized in Massachusetts.

Guest speaker BG Tanya R. Trout, Texas Military Department Director of Joint Staff.

Our chapter will also conduct an awards ceremony to honor MG (R) Patrick M. Hamilton with the presentation of the LTG Raymond S. McLain Medal.

Biographical Sketch: BG Tanya R. Trout

BG Tanya R. Trout is assigned as the Texas Military Department Director of Joint Staff. She 
graduated with a BS degree in Biology and received her commission in 1996 from Arizona State University. She later earned a MA degree in Government Information Leadership from the College of Information and Cyberspace at National Defense University in 2019.
General Trout’s assignments include serving as a signal platoon leader, company executive 
officer and commander with 13th Signal Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. She joined the Texas 
Army National Guard in 2001 where she commanded at the company, battalion, brigade levels and serviced on the Joint Staff J7 at the Pentagon as well as the G6 with the 36th Infantry Division. 

General Trout also commanded the 136th Expeditionary Signal Battalion and the 71st Theater Information Operations Group (TIOG) and dual-hatted as the Texas Military Department CIO/J6General Trout has had multiple deployments to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Her military education includes the Signal Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Command and General Staff Officer Course (CGSC), Information Operations Course (FA30), Senior Service College, Army Operational Electronic Warfare Operations Course (ASI 1J), the Joint Task Force and Dual Status Commander courses, and Airborne School. General Trout’s awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Parachutist Badge and numerous other State and Federal military awards
