Representing the AUSA- Texas Capital Area Chapter were COL (Ret) Garry D. Patterson and his wife, Mrs. Sharon Patterson and MG (Ret) Robert Halverson and his wife Mrs. Johanna Halverson at the retirement ceremony of CSM John Sampa on Saturday, 23 April 2022 at the Texas State Capital.

CSM John Sampa retired from the National Guard after 35 years of service.  CSM Sampa is a Texas Army National Guardsmen and his final assignment was Command Sergeant Major of the National Guard assigned to National Guard Bureau in Washington, D.C.  

The ceremony was officiated by GEN Daniel R. Hokanson, Chief of the National Guard and member of the Joint Chiefs.  Also serving as an official for the retirement was LTC Joh Jensen, Director of the National Guard.
