General Membership Meeting and National Guard Birthday

The Texas Capital Area Chapter had their December General Membership Meeting and celebrated the National Guard's Birthday on 07 December. Association of the United States Army (AUSA) National leadership member CSM Mario O. Terenas (USA), Deputy Director of the AUSA Center for Leadership spoke to chapter members and 
guests about the mission and benefits of AUSA. He told the audience that AUSA National Leadership Team considers the Texas Capital Area Chapter as one of several chapters actively fulfilling AUSA’s mission.  CSM Terenas thanked the chapter for our good work and encourages us to continue what we are doing. 

The feature speaker for the chapter meeting was Brigadier General Monie R. Ulis.  BG Ulis serves as the Deputy Adjutant General – Army at Camp Mabry. As the Deputy Adjutant General – Army, he assists the Adjutant General 
is exercising and executing command responsibilities and is the principal adviser on all Army matters. The Deputy Adjutant General – Army also works with the Chief of the Joint Staff to prepare the state for federal or state emergencies, to include manmade or natural disasters, and federal military mobilizations.  BG Ulis provided an
interesting presentation on the history of the National Guard and discussed some of the various milestones and events during its 386 years.
