The Army’s special operations forces need a closer look at how to operate as they prepare for an increasingly complex world, the commander of Army Special Operations Command said.

“We must understand our critical vulnerabilities and challenge all assumptions, processes and everything that’s been developed for the counterterrorism fight,” Lt. Gen. Jonathan Braga said July 27.

The inaugural AUSA Warfighter Summit and Exposition will take place July 27–28 at the Crown Complex near Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The in-person summit is focused on the warfighter, and its theme is “America’s Response Force: Ready Today, Ready Tomorrow.”

Roberson: Army Must Prioritize Partnerships

As the U.S. enters a new era of global conflict, it must continue to invest in vital security cooperation partnerships, a senior Army leader said during the recent 2022 Strategic Landpower Symposium hosted by the Army War College.

Events in Ukraine are an example of how building security cooperation enables America’s partners and allies to fend off external threats, said Maj. Gen. Patrick Roberson, commander of the Army’s John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.

WWII Rangers to Receive Congressional Gold Medal

Seventy-eight years after they stormed the beaches of Normandy, France, Army Rangers are being honored for their service and valor during World War II.

Members of the all-volunteer World War II Ranger battalions will soon receive the Congressional Gold Medal, Congress’ “highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions,” according to a House of Representatives website on the medal.

Retired Gen. Carl Stiner, a legend in the Army’s special operations community, has died. He was 85.

A lifelong member of the Association of the U.S. Army, Stiner retired in 1993 after a 35-year career, serving his last assignment as commander of U.S. Special Operations Command.
