ADL Embedded Solutions, Inc.
A LEADING PROVIDER OF
HIGH-PERFORMANCE EMBEDDED SYSTEMS
ADL Embedded Solutions Inc. (ADLES) is a leading solution provider of COTS and custom rugged, small form factor embedded systems for demanding thermal and rugged environments for military and industrial applications. ADL Embedded Solutions diverse portfolio of products range from SBCs based on the Intel® Atom® architecture through high-performance 6th generation Intel® Core™ processors built to PC/104 and 3.5” form factors. ADL Embedded Solutions also provides full system design services including enclosure design, system integration and 3D modeling support.
CUSTOM SYSTEMS
Embedded system design needs, challenges and constraints can vary widely and don’t always abide by readily available COTS solutions. ADLES’ staff of CPU designers and engineers custom tailor embedded designs to meet a broad range of customer specific space, power, electrical or environmental requirements. ADLES also offers a range of COTS peripheral modules that can easily be integrated for added I/O functions like CAN, Ethernet, GPIO, Serial COM, storage and much more. Customers can also define custom peripheral boards for special I/O or power supply requirements as well as the custom enclosures necessary for complete solutions.
ROBUST DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
Aided by SolidWorks® CAD design and simulation tools, ADLES’s engineers conceptualize, design, manufacture and system integrate turnkey embedded solutions for both military, aerospace and defense applications.
Driven by the product lifecycle requirements of our military customers, ADL Embedded Solutions has developed a robust System Development Process designed to capture the myriad of requirements, specifications and changes that can arise during a system development from initial consultation through prototyping and production release. All system electrical, I/O, mechanical, and environmental requirements are fully documented, design reviewed, customer approved and form the foundation for all current and future iterations of a customer’s design throughout their lifecycle.
RUGGED CHASSIS SYSTEMS
Our line of rugged ADLMES9200 chassis systems is a successor to ADLES’ popular ADLMES8200 IP65 rugged chassis systems. The improved ADLMES9200 systems are now IP67-rated with lower weight, lower cost and more reliable EMC-compliant gasket interfaces. Target markets include SWaP-constrained military / defense applications for mobile, tactical, airborne and ground vehicles, Mission / Payload Computers and commercial unmanned vehicles. Designed to survive MIL-STD 810 rugged environments, the ADLMES9200 suits the needs of a broad range of rugged applications.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS:
- Improved IP67 ingress protection
- 1-piece unibody chassis design for lower cost and more reliable IP67 protection
- EMC-compliant IP67 gasket(s)
- Conductive cooling option with flanged base for maximum operating temperature
- Designed for MIL-STD 810F shock and vibration
- Options for MIL-STD 461/704/1275 Power and EMI specifications

ADL EMBEDDED SOLUTIONS INC. CHEMRING SENSORS AND ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS – JUNE 2015
ADL Embedded Solutions (ADLES) was selected by Chemring Sensors and Electronic Systems (CSES), to be the sole provider of its embedded mission computing solutions for the CSES Husky Mounted Detection System (HMDS) next generation offering to the U.S. Army’s HMDS A2 Program of Record. The HMDS A2 utilizes the CSES Time-Domain Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). In a parallel/complementary project, ADL Embedded Solutions will also form the “brain” of the HMDS International Sales Variant utilizing the 3D-Radar Step-Frequency GPR. ADLES assisted CSES in retrofitting the existing HMDS A1 fleet with its embedded computing solutions via a separate effort.
The HMDS is a high-performance ground penetrating radar system which functions on manned and unmanned, blast resistant vehicles that provide rapid ability to detect anti-vehicular landmines and other explosive hazards such as improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on main supply routes and open areas. Currently in use in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Turkey, Italy and Spain, CSES has been developing the HMDS since 2006 successfully supporting the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and other coalition partners with HMDS systems in Afghanistan through a Joint Urgent Operational Need (JUON) requirement now known as the HMDS A1.
Tom Thebes, President of Chemring Sensors and Electronics stated that “the HMDS is a critical component of the U.S. and our allies’ Route Clearance units and continues to help save soldiers’ lives and ensure mission success, wherever soldiers may be called to serve,” he continued to say, “ADL has provided us a proven and cost-effective embedded computing solution that will contribute to the already stellar performance record of our GPRs for IED and Landmine detection.”
