Southern Virginia AUSA Chapter Hosts LTG(R) Patricia McQuistion for Inspiring Talk with 92Y Soldiers
Training paused briefly on Thursday as Soldiers in the Unit Supply Specialist (92Y) course gathered for a special visit from LTG(R) Patricia McQuistion, hosted by the Southern Virginia Chapter of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
LTG(R) McQuistion, a highly respected retired three-star general known for her leadership and dedication to Soldiers, spoke to the class about her Army career, leadership philosophy, and the importance of pride and professionalism in the logistics field.
Her message resonated strongly with the future supply specialists. According to instructors, the Soldiers were highly engaged—many expressing excitement at the rare opportunity to learn directly from a former senior Army leader.
“They were motivated and inspired,” said one cadre member. “Hearing her perspective gave them a deeper appreciation for the role they’re about to step into.”
The session quickly turned into an energetic discussion as Soldiers asked questions about leadership, career development, and the challenges of serving at the highest levels of the Army. LTG(R) McQuistion shared candid insights and encouraged the Soldiers to embrace every opportunity to learn and grow.
James Vardy, President of the Southern Virginia AUSA Chapter, expressed his appreciation for LTG(R) McQuistion’s visit and emphasized the chapter’s commitment to supporting Soldier development at Fort Gregg-Adams. He noted that events like this reinforce AUSA’s mission to support the Total Army—Soldiers, families, and civilians—through mentorship, community engagement, and professional outreach.
Vardy also stated that the chapter looks forward to bringing more influential and experienced leaders to speak with future classes, continuing to enrich the learning environment for the Army’s next generation of logisticians.
