The Steven Messervy Memorial Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce the inaugural recipients of this prestigious award, Mr. Drayton Walker and Mr. Keltrick Jakes. Drayton, an exceptional recent graduate of Bob Jones High School, distinguished himself among the highly qualified pool of applicants by achieving the top grade point average of 4.03. This impressive academic accomplishment is a testament to Drayton's dedication, work ethic and intellectual prowess. He has chosen to continue his educational journey at the renowned University of Alabama in the upcoming academic year. The Committee also recognizes the outstanding achievements of Mr. Keltrick Jakes, a distinguished senior at Alabama A&M University. Keltrick is a model student-leader, serving as a Simultaneous Membership Program Cadet in the esteemed Bulldog Brigade while maintaining an excellent 3.44 grade point average. Upon his graduation in May 2026, Keltrick will be commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, where he will no doubt continue to excel and serve with honor.

Each recipient has earned $2500 for their high academic achievements. The Steven Messervy Memorial Scholarship Committee commends both of these exemplary young men and has the utmost confidence they will leverage their scholarships to achieve great things in their bright futures.

The Steven Messervy Memorial Scholarship is made possible by the generosity and commitment of the Huntsville Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army  to recognize military families' contributions to the fighting force's readiness and to celebrate Steven Messervy’s role in the military family community.
