Celebrating the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary in 2025

This is a big year! On June 14, 2025, the U.S. Army will mark an incredible milestone: its 250th anniversary. The theme, "This We’ll Defend," highlights the Army’s ongoing dedication to protecting our nation—a commitment that’s been going strong since 1775.

The Army’s campaign for this special occasion is all about reaching people across the country and around the world. The goal is to make this the most inclusive and wide-reaching celebration in the Army’s history.

At 250 years old, the U.S. Army is a year older than the nation it defends. This milestone is a chance to reflect on the Army’s legacy of service, sacrifice, and dedication. From the Revolutionary War to today’s missions, Soldiers have always been there, protecting freedom at home and abroad.

Since 1775, U.S. Army Soldiers, families, and civilians have supported the United States, committed to the nation, the Constitution, and each other. As we look ahead in 2026 to celebrating “America250,” the 250th anniversary of the signing of Declaration of Independence, we will honor and celebrate the Army’s roles in both our nation’s founding and its ongoing security.

Here in the Tennessee Valley, plans are underway by Redstone Arsenal, the AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter, and the Tennessee Valley community to celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday throughout the year. One of the main events will be the 250th Army Birthday Ball on June 14, 2025, at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. This formal event will carry on the traditions of the Army Ball, offering an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
