For more than a decade the Redstone Rockets Ten-Miler Team has blasted past the competition when runners hit the streets of our nation’s capital every October. The team meets for a predawn practice each Saturday at Vincent Park.

October 12 will mark the 41st year for the Army Ten-Miler and Redstone has earned 28 eagle trophies so far. Last year the Rockets again won both the all-comers division and the government agency division. After a break in 2020-22 because of the pandemic, their dual championship winning streak resumed in 2023 and 2024.

From 2007- 2019, Redstone won 13 consecutive championships in the government agency division and 11 consecutive titles in the all-comers division.

The Rockets longtime coach is CW5 (Ret.) Harry Hobbs, Huntsville Utilities vice president for employee engagement.

This year’s lineup includes all-comers division, Blaise Binns, Joey Schlich, Tony Echols, Jay Day, Will Rodgers, Josh Cornett, Beck Mitchell and Hobbs; government agency division, Josh Whitehead, Dominick Borreggine, Hunter Nails, Gabriel Henneberger, Allan Anderson, Matt Casiano, Sean Allan and assistant coach Skip Vaughn.

The Rockets aren’t the only ones representing Huntsville next month, the Army DEVCOM Aviation & Missile Center has a team set to compete as well. This is the fourth year that AvMC has put together a team. They competed once pre-Covid and then consecutively since 2023. The team is filled with runners/walkers from their entire workforce including family members.

The Redstone-Huntsville AUSA Chapter is excited to support both teams, fostering a spirit of friendly competition while honoring the U.S. Army and its extended community.
