Patti Brown was as an active-duty Army spouse for 37 years volunteering in support of soldiers and families at all levels within the military community, from Company-level Soldier Family Readiness Group Leader to Four-Star Senior Spouse Advisor. Her husband, General (Retired) Robert B. Brown served for 38 years, retiring in October 2019. His last assignment was Commanding General, US Army Pacific. They relocated as a family 25 times during his career and have three daughters and seven grandchildren.

An educator for 29 years, Patti taught in seven states at the elementary and middle school levels of public education. Additionally, she taught at the university level, to include West Point, and worked at a non-profit research education company, building educational capacity throughout the Pacific. Patti completed her Ph.D. in Adult Learning and Leadership from Kansas State University in 2022 and is currently an instructor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Kansas State University supporting the Brigade Spouse Pre-Command Course taught at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Patti has been a proud member of the Army Emergency Relief (AER) Board of Managers since 2020. She is passionate about military spouse education, employment, and leadership opportunities, support for military children, especially those with autism, and sharing the Army’s story through community outreach. Originally from Michigan, her family’s legacy of service began with her grandfather emigrating from England to the US and serving in the US Army during World War I, her father serving in the US Navy as a fighter pilot in the Pacific during World War II, and her brother serving in the US Army as a dog handler during Vietnam. Her family’s legacy of service continues with her oldest daughter Kelly, a US Army Intelligence Officer (LTC), her husband (LTC), and her middle daughter Kristen, an Army spouse married to an Army Ranger/Infantryman (MAJ).

Patti enjoys fitness, reading, and traveling, especially to visit her daughters and grandchildren currently living in Germany and Hawai’i. Whether at home or at the beach she enjoys spending more time with her husband and their two dogs, Eleanor and Gidget!
