Major General A. C. Roper Commander 80th Training Division U.S. Army Reserve

Major General A.C. Roper assumed command of the 80th Training Command 23 August 2014. He has served in command and staff assignments up to the division level spanning a period of thirty-two years. As the former Deputy Commanding General, CBRN, of the 335th Signal Command (Theater), he commanded over 4000 CBRN Soldiers. 

Previously, he served as Commander of the 415th CBRN Brigade, the US Army Reserve's only Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Brigade which consisted of 2,500 Soldiers geographically dispersed over ten states. In this capacity, he was also dual-hatted as the Task Force Operations Commander, JTF-51, ARNORTH for the C2CRE homeland response mission. 

As a Colonel, he served as the Chief of Staff of the 87th Army Reserve Support Command East. In this position, he led staff actions and coordination for ADCON support of nine AC Brigade HQs assigned to 1st Army Division East consisting of 37 Army Reserve Battalions Prior to this assignment he served as the G3/7, Regional Support Group East. As a Lieutenant Colonel, MG Roper served as the Inspector General of the 87th Division (Training Support) and as Assistant Chief of Staff of the 81st Regional Readiness Command. MG Roper also commanded the 314th Public Affairs Operations Center. Mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, he deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan where he served as the Public Affairs Officer for the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. In this capacity he served as the Army spokesperson for combat operations in southern Afghanistan and lead strategic communications for numerous high-profile international incidents. Other staff assignments include duty as a BN S3 with mobilization to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Desert Shield. In addition, he served as Chief, Media Relations during hurricane relief operations in southern Florida in support of Joint Task Force Andrew. 

Major General Roper is a graduate of the Chemical Officer Basic and Advance Courses (Honor Graduate of both), Public Affairs Officers Course, Equal Opportunity Advisors Course (Commandant's Award), Inspector General Course, Combined Arms Staff Services School, Command and General Staff College (Commandant's List); the US Army War College and CAPSTONE. He earned a Master's of Science from the University of Alabama and a Masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. 

MG Roper's decorations include: the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters), the Army Achievement Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters) and several other awards and decorations. He is also a recipient of the General Douglas McArthur Leadership Award. 

MG Roper is married with two children.
