Lt. Gen. James L. Terry, USA Ret., commanded U.S. Army Central, the Army service component of U.S. Central Command based at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., from June 2013 to November 2015. He was dual-hatted as the combined joint task force commander responsible for Operation Inherent Resolve. He previously served as commander of the International Security Assistance Force Joint Command and deputy commanding general, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan and commanding general, U.S. Army V Corps.
