Lt. Gen. Daniel Bolger, U.S. Army retired

Daniel P. Bolger of Aurora, Illinois served in the U.S. Army for 35 years, reaching the rank of Lieutenant General.  He received his commission from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.  He has led Soldiers at every echelon from platoon through division, to include command of troops during two deployments to Iraq (2005-06, 2009-10) and one to Afghanistan (2011-13).  His professional education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.  He earned an M.A. and PhD in history from the University of Chicago.  He has written seven books and numerous articles, and currently teaches at North Carolina State University.
