Command Chief Warrant Officer, United States Army National Guard

CW5 Peter Panos was appointed the Army National Guard Command Chief Warrant Officer on 18 February 2015.  Prior to his appointment, Mr. Panos served as Minnesota Army National Guard Command Chief Warrant Officer.

CW5 Panos is a native of Palos Verdes, California.  Mr. Panos began his military career as a Marine Corps Infantryman from July of 1976 until June 1982.  He enlisted in the Army Reserve as a Military Police Officer in June 1982.  Mr. Panos received his appointment as a Warrant Officer One in June, 1985 and joined the 406th Army Security Agency upon his successful completion of flight school. 

In 1994, Mr. Panos joined the Minnesota Army National Guard as a UH-1 Pilot.  He served in numerous positions from Instructor Pilot, TAC OPS Officer, and Standardization Officer and was deployed to Iraq as the BDE Safety Officer 1/34 Brigade Combat Team.

Mr. Panos has completed the Warrant Officer Basic and Advance Courses, the Warrant Officer Staff Course, and Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course.  He graduated with a Baccalaureate of Science Degree from Metropolitan State University in Law Enforcement Management. Mr. Panos is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Public Safety.

Mr. Panos' awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/2 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal w/4 Oak Leaf Cluster, Iraq Campaign Medal w/1 Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Master Army Aviator Badge, and Minnesota Medal for Merit w/Gold Star.
