Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Recruiting Command

Command Sergeant Major Anthony T. Stoneburg assumed responsibility of U.S. Army Recruiting Command on February 9, 2016. USAREC is responsible for providing the strength of the Army by bringing quality young men and women into the Active Army and the U.S. Army Reserve.

CSM Stoneburg is a native of Los Alamitos, California and began his career in March of 1990.His initial Military Occupational Specialty was as a Counter Signal Intelligence Specialist and his early assignments include the U.S. Army Signal Operation Detachment, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland and Detachment NCOIC, 214th Military Intelligence Company, Owing Mills, Maryland.

He entered the Recruiting Command in June 1994 as a Recruiter in the Baltimore Recruiting Battalion. He was later assigned as an On-Production Station Commander and Limited Production Station Commander in the Columbia and James River Recruiting Companies of Baltimore Recruiting Battalion. Upon selection to Master Sergeant in February 2003, he assumed responsibility as the First Sergeant of the Las Vegas Recruiting Company, Salt Lake City Recruiting Battalion.

His other assignments include First Sergeant of the Newark Recruiting Company, New York City Recruiting Battalion, Senior Master Trainer 1st Recruiting Brigade, Director of Recruiter Exercise Soldier Support Institute, Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Afghanistan National Police Recruiter Assistance Team, NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan, Operations Sergeant Major for the Kansas City Recruiting Battalion, and Command Sergeant Major of the Sacramento Recruiting Battalion. His last assignment was the Command Sergeant Major for the U.S. Army Recruiting and Retention School, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

He is a graduate of all Army Noncommissioned Officer Education System courses including a graduate of Class 56, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Command Sergeant Major Force Management Course and the Nominative Leaders Course.

His civilian education consists of a Bachelor of Science degree from Excelsior College and a Master of Business Administration Degree in Human Resource Management from TUI University, Los Alamitos, California.

He was recognized as the United States Army Recruiting Command Station Commander of the Year for Fiscal year 2001.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with Silver Leaf Cluster, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal with 4th Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal 7th award, National Defense Service Ribbons with Bronze Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with numerical device 4, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award 2nd Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Action Badge, the Recruiting Ring and the Glen E. Morrell Award for Recruiting Excellence.
