Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Daniel Hendrex
CSM (R) Hendrex served 34 years and retired as the CSM of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command in 2023. The majority of his career was operational with his last deployment as the CSM for U.S. Army CENTCOM CJTF OIR for Iraq, Kuwait, and Syria. CSM (R) Hendrex held key positions as the CSM, III Corps, Fort Cavasos, Texas, and CSM, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia, and multiple positions of leadership at the command level throughout his career. In addition to tour in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel, he deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom, Noble Eagle, Intrinsic Action, Joint Forge, Joint Guardian, Restore Hope, Desert Storm and Desert Shield. CSM (R) Hendrex was decorated with the Bronze Star with Valor for his leadership during operations in Al Anbar, Iraq in 2004. He served in the 1st Armored, 3rd Infantry, 24th Infantry, and 10th Mountain Divisions; 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment; and the Asymmetric Warfare Group (AWG) both stateside and/or overseas. He participated in numerous rotations at NTC, JRTC, and CMTC throughout his career.
CSM Hendrex’ military and civilian education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System and the Tank Master Gunner Course. He is a graduate of Class 57 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy and was selected as the first NCO to serve in a fellowship on the Chief of Staff of the Army's Strategic Studies Group. He was inducted into the USASMA Hall of Fame and received 3 Distinguished Service Medals, BSM with Valor, Order of St George Lifetime Award, Order of St Maurice, Order of St Barber, Aubrey Red Newman Award, and Claude Pepper Award.
Mr. Hendrex is currently the Director of Strategic Materials for Materialytics and consults for multiple companies in support of the DoD. He and his wife, Christina (together for 30 years) live in Fort Mill, SC with their two children.
