Col. Ian Palmer is a National Security Affairs Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, California. Previously, he commanded the 3rd Squadron, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade, Fort Benning, Georgia. He deployed to Turkey in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, three times to Iraq, and most recently to Afghanistan. Upon completion of his fellowship, he will assume command of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas
