Brian J. Dunn earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Michigan in 1986 and a Master’s degree in history from Eastern Michigan University in 1989. After serving in the Michigan Army National Guard from 1987 to 1993, he was honorably discharged in 1995. Among other jobs, Brian taught an introductory American history course at Henry Ford Community College for three terms prior to beginning his position in 1991 as a nonpartisan research analyst for the Michigan State Legislature, the position from which he retired. He has written for multiple publications over the course of his career, including Army Magazine, Military Review and Joint Force Quarterly, among others. Dunn, a proud father of two, currently resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he writes about defense and national security issues in his online journal, The Dignified Rant.
