Mr. William A. (Bill) Colson was appointed to the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) as Director of the Senior Service College Fellowship (SSCF) Program for the South Region/Huntsville in Dec 2016. In this role, Mr. Colson oversees the planning, execution, and sustainment of one of DOD’s premier civilian senior leader development programs to enhance the Army acquisition effectiveness for Team Redstone Arsenal. He is also a DAU Qualified Executive Coach and supports multiple Army Senior Leaders of Team Redstone with Executive Coaching focused to enhance their Acquisition outcomes. Prior to joining DAU, Mr. Colson served as a member of the Army’s Senior Executive Service (SES) from July 2013 to Dec 2016. Most recently, he served as Director of the Technical Center for the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (SMDC/ARSTRAT). In this capacity, he was responsible for research, development, and test programs for space, missile defense, cyber, directed energy, and related technologies as well as for directing the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site in the Marshall Islands. Mr. Colson also previously served as Director of the Systems Simulation, Software, and Integration Directorate of the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center (AMRDEC) where he led a highly technical workforce to deliver engineering solutions in support of the U.S. Army’s Aviation and Missile weapon system acquisition program managers. Mr. Colson has extensive program, technical, and test & evaluation management expertise supporting the DOD/U.S. Army acquisition enterprise throughout his 27 years of federal service.
