The Army is seeking submissions for the fifth round of its XTechSearch competition.

Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on March 31.

The Expeditionary Technology Search, shortened to XTechSearch, calls on small business and technology companies to demonstrate technologies that can help the Army meet its modernization challenges. The goal is to seek nontraditional innovators and small businesses who can work with the Army, including through cooperative research opportunities with Army scientists, as the service continues its modernization efforts.

For XTechSearch 5.0, the Army plans to select up to 20 semifinalists who will demonstrate their technologies at the Association of the U.S. Army’s 2020 Annual Meeting and Exposition Oct. 12-14 in Washington, D.C. The companies will be evaluated by a panel of Army and business experts, who will select up to 10 finalists. Each finalist will receive $120,000 and advance to the XTechSearch 5.0 finals.

Final demonstrations will take place at AUSA’s 2021 Global Force Symposium and Exposition next March in Huntsville, Alabama. A grand prize winner will be selected and awarded an additional $250,000 to continue their work.

The XTechSearch 5.0 will kick off as the third and fourth rounds of the competition are also underway.

A winner from XTechSearch 3.0 will be announced this month at the 2020 Global Force Symposium, March 17-19 in Huntsville. The winner of XTechSearch 4.0 will be named during the AUSA Annual Meeting in October.
