Tricare Extends Deadlines for West Region Users

Beneficiaries who use Tricare in the West Region now have more time to update their payment information.
On Jan. 1, TriWest Healthcare Alliance became the new West Region contractor, replacing Health Net Federal Services. Tricare also moved six states from the East Region to the West Region—they are Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.
Humana Military remains the contractor for the East Region.
Those in the West Region, including those whose states are moving, who pay enrollment or premium payments by credit card or bank transfer must transfer payment information to the TriWest self-service patient portal.
Beneficiaries using Tricare Prime or Select now have until Jan. 30 to make the change. Those using Tricare Young Adult, Reserve Select and Retired Reserve have a new deadline of Feb. 7. Previously, the deadline was Dec. 31.
Those who miss the deadline will be disenrolled back to Jan. 1, Tricare said on its website.
“Tricare’s goal is to make sure that everyone maintains their coverage in 2025, without any gaps,” Malcolm Jones, a Tricare enrollment specialist at the Defense Heath Agency, said in a news release. “To keep your Tricare coverage, you must take action and provide your payment information to TriWest.”
