More than 400 military moms, dads, and children enjoyed brunch Saturday in honor of Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Mother’s Day. The event was sponsored by the Association of the U.S. Army and the Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C.

Guest speakers Gen. Carter F. Ham, U.S. Army Retired, and Sgt. Maj. Tracey E. Anbiya of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment provided welcoming remarks. Families enjoyed a complimentary buffet brunch catered by Marriott Marquis. Fun for kids included pancake-making and cookie-decorating stations. Meanwhile, a walkabout Elmo was donated by Sesame Workshop.

“The Association of the United States Army is proud and pleased to have the opportunity to participate with Marriott in this tribute to military moms and spouses who have borne the burden of separation and sacrifice since the American Revolution,” said Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, U.S. Army Retired, president and CEO of AUSA.
