Online registration is open through 5 p.m. Eastern on June 23. On-site registration will be available on June 25.

Donahue, who has led U.S. Army Europe and Africa since December, is a 1992 West Point graduate who previously commanded the XVIII Airborne Corps and, before that, the 82nd Airborne Division.

A combat veteran who has deployed more than 20 times, Donahue will discuss how U.S. Army Europe and Africa is thinking and fighting differently to overcome global threats and rebuild the Army’s ability to deliver global ground deterrence.

During the Coffee Series, Donahue also will delve into how the command is strengthening deterrence alongside allies by integrating live data and next-generation command-and-control systems, testing and developing new tactics and systems based on battlefield lessons and leading Army transformation efforts.

U.S. Army Europe and Africa is responsible for providing ready, combat-credible land forces to deter, and, if necessary, defeat aggression from any potential adversary in Europe and Africa, according to the command’s website. It also is prepared to serve as a combined joint force land component command to fight and win across the full spectrum of military operations from contingency response to large-scale, ground combat operations.

In addition to training with and supporting allies and partners in the region, U.S. Army Europe and Africa is responsible for supporting the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence effort in Poland, a constant presence in the NATO-led KFOR mission in Kosovo, and Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine training missions.

When Donahue took command of U.S. Army Europe and Africa, he emphasized the importance of transformation and getting capabilities into soldiers’ hands quickly. “We have to outthink, innovate, adapt and work any potential adversary to make sure we have true deterrence and, if required, fight and win as decisively and quickly as possible,” he said.
