AUSA Podcast Highlights Ukraine Lessons, Army Astronaut

In April, the Association of the U.S. Army’s “Army Matters” podcast will highlight key battlefield lessons from Ukraine and tell the story of a NASA astronaut who now serves in the Army Reserve.
First up, on April 9, is a podcast featuring Lt. Gen. Charles Costanza, commander of V Corps. For more than 100 years, V Corps has helped to reinforce NATO commitments in Europe. Today, the corps is doing some of its most important work with partners stationed near the Russia-Ukraine war.
During the podcast, Costanza discusses his latest observations about the war and how he was able to continue serving while recovering from a near-fatal emergency brain tumor procedure.
Next up is a podcast featuring NASA astronaut Maj. Kate Rubins, who serves in the Army Reserve’s 75th Innovation Command. In 2021, as Rubins was floating above Earth in the International Space Station, she decided she wanted to give back to the country that had given her so much. She became an Army Reserve officer and is now preparing for NASA’s upcoming moon missions and conducting microbiological research and training for the Army.
During the podcast, Rubins talks about her career as a microbiologist, the lessons she’s learned in the Army Reserve that she applies to her NASA work and what it’s like to tie your shoelaces in zero gravity.
The episode is available on April 23.
