In December, the Association of the U.S. Army’s “Army Matters” podcast will highlight the Army’s efforts to counter enemy drones and feature a soldier who helped make history at the 2024 Olympics.

First up, on Dec. 4, is an episode titled “Stopping Enemy Drones.” As drones have become ubiquitous in the past few years, the Army has been at the forefront of this technology. Leading the charge is Lt. Col. Moseph Sauda, director of the Joint Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems University. In this capacity, Sauda helps train soldiers and other American groups on ways to defend against enemy drones.

During the podcast, Sauda talks about the latest in drone technology, how the Army is working with other organizations to protect the country’s skies, and how his love of music led him to where he is today.

Next up is an episode featuring Capt. Sammy Sullivan, Olympic bronze medalist, West Point graduate and soldier-athlete with the Army World Class Athlete Program.

At the Paris Olympics this summer, the American women’s rugby sevens team came from behind in the last seconds of the bronze medal game to clinch an upset victory over Australia. The team clinched the U.S.’ first-ever Olympic medal in the sport, with Sullivan playing a huge role in the victory.

Listen as Sullivan shares her journey from Army brat to Olympic champion, the Army’s role in her success, and how a certain brick-building toy provides the ultimate relaxation tool.

The podcast is available Dec. 18.
