On May 8, an Association of the U.S. Army webinar will focus on the importance of powering Army installations.

Part of AUSA’s Noon Report series, the event, “U.S. Army: Powering the Mission,” will feature Brandon Cockrell, deputy assistant Army secretary for energy and sustainability.

The webinar begins at noon Eastern. It is free, but registration is required here.

Cockrell will explore how Army installations must stand as reliable and self-sufficient strongholds, prepared to empower warfighter readiness and enable troops to deploy, fight and win.

He also will discuss the critical role of energy in today’s evolving operational environment, underscoring how it can no longer be an afterthought. Recognizing the importance of energy to the Army’s mission, Cockrell will highlight how these initiatives enhance lethality on and off the battlefield.

In his role as deputy assistant Army secretary for energy and sustainability, Cockrell is responsible for leading the program development and oversight of installation energy and water security, resilience and conservation; sustainability; and operational energy.

The Army’s goal is to have modern, resilient and sustainable installations that enhance strategic readiness and provide quality facilities, services and support for soldiers, Army civilians and their families, Cockrell said last fall, according to an Army news article.

Installations must be able to function as self-sufficiently as an island, he said. “Electricity and power are no longer an afterthought— it’s an expectation,” Cockrell said at the time.
